Maintaining our Faith despite COVID-19

Maundy Thursday - 9 April 2020

Listen to the Organ Prelude
"Ach Herr, mich armen Sünder" [LBW 117]
I. Melody on chimes II. Hymn III. Chorale Prelude by Dietrich BUXTEHUDE
    Ah Lord, poor sinner that I am, do not punish me in your rage,
    but soften your stern wrath otherwise I am lost.
    Ah Lord, may it be your will to forgive my sin and be merciful
    so that I may live forever and flee from the pains of hell.

Sing along with the hymn: Wash, O God, Our Sons and Daughters
    Wash, O God, our Sons and daughters, where your cleansing waters flow
    Number them among your people; bless as Christ blessed long ago.
    Wave them garments bright and sparkling; compass them with love and light
    Fill, anoint them; send your Spirit, holy dove and heart's delight.
    We who bring them long for nurture; by your milk may we be fed.
    Let us join your feast, partaking cup of blessing, living bread.
    God, renew us, guide our footsteps; free from sin and all its snares,
    one with Christ in living, dying, by your Spirit, children, heirs.
    Oh, how deep your holy wisdom! Unimagined, all your ways!
    To your name be glory, honor! With our lives we worship, praise!
    We your people stand before you, water washed and Spirit born.
    By your grace, our lives we offer, Recreate us; God, transform!

Sing along with the hymn: Go to Dark Gethsemane, LBW 109
    Go to dark Gethsemane, All who feel the tempter’s pow’r;
    Your Redeemer’s conflict see. Watch with him one bitter hour;
    Turn not from his griefs away; Learn from Jesus Christ to pray.
    Follow to the judgment hall, View the Lord of life arraigned;
    Oh, the wormwood and the gall! Oh, the pangs his soul sustained!
    Shun not suffering, shame, or loss; Learn from him to bear the cross.
    Calvary’s mournful mountain climb; There, adoring at his feet,
    Mark that miracle of time, God’s own sacrifice complete.
    "It is finished!" hear him cry; Learn from Jesus Christ to die.
    Early hasten to the tomb Where they laid his breathless clay;
    All is solitude and gloom. Who has taken him away?
    Christ is ris’n! He meets our eyes. Savior, teach us so to rise.
